When is the 6th Annual Reindeer Run?
This year's Reindeer Run and Grinch Sprint will be postponed until 2019. Our department is in the process of hiring a new director, so we hope to be able to bring back this fun annual tradition in the future! The Reindeer Run is always the first Saturday in December.
Where is the Reindeer Run?
The run starts and finishes at Sunset Park in Elkhorn on a timed, flat course.
What is the distance of the Reindeer Run?
It is a 5K (3.1 mile) Run/Walk that will start and end at Sunset Park and wind through the charming city streets.
What is the registration fee?
$25 Individual Adult
$20 Team Adult (3 or more)
$15 Student (age 23 or under)
$10 Grinch Sprint
Same day registration is $35 for the Reindeer Run (for all ages) and $10 for Grinch Sprint.
How do I sign up a team?
You need 3 or more people together to register as a team. Team members can either complete the registration forms and submit to us or contact us for a team registration form.
Are there awards?
Yes! The top three male/female finishers in each age category receive a medal. The fastest overall male and female receive a giant wreath. Additionally, the most plaid and holiday dressed will receive a holiday blanket. The best dressed team wins a pool party in 2019! Must be present to win.
What are the age categories for the run?
Award categories are as follows:
Youth 7 - 12
Youth 13 - 18
Adult 19 - 29
Adult 30 - 39
Adult 40 - 49
Adult 50 - 59
Adult 60 - 69
Adult 70 and up
What does my registration include?
Registration includes goodie bag, refreshments and long-sleeve cotton race t-shirt.
What is the registration deadline?
To be guaranteed a t-shirt, all pre-registration entries must be received by (TBD). Same day registrations will be processed between 8-9:30am on the day of the run.
What is the Grinch Sprint?
The Grinch Sprint is a fun sprint for kids. Ages 1 - 12 will do a 100 yard dash. After the kids sprint, they will get the chance to return to the Recreation Center for activities and pictures with the Grinch and other holiday characters. Registration includes a shirt and goodie bag. The Grinch Sprint will be held at 11:00am.
When can I pick up my packet?
Race packets may be picked up, starting the Friday before the race day from 9am-5pm at the Recreation Center in Sunset Park. Race day check-in and pick up will begin at 8am on Saturday.
Are there bathroom facilities available?
Indoor bathrooms at the Recreation Center will be available before, during and after the Reindeer Run.
Are pets allowed?
Yes! We encourage you to bring your dog in a costume. If you don't want to dress up your dog, you can still bring them to the run/walk. All pets must be on a leash. Pets are not allowed inside the Recreation Center Building. Please remember to clean up after your pet. Participants with dogs are asked to stay towards the back at the start line.
Can I volunteer?
Absolutely! We love volunteers! We will need people for goodie bag stuffing, registration, on course and clean up. Additionally, we welcome baked good donations for the after race celebration.Contact our office at (262) 741-5114 if you are interested.

Can I bring my skates, skateboard or bicycle?
Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, in-line skates, roller skates, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed on the course. If you are running/walking with a stroller or dog, please stay toward the back and yield to other runners/walkers.
